The Devonshire Made Story

Hello! We are a small, family run business, making proper, old fashioned fudge, toffee, biscuits and jams.

We live and work in a somewhat run - down former dairy, by the sea in beautiful Teignmouth. Looking through our lounge window, above the factory, you can watch the sea, with the mist rolling in. Looking from our decking, you can see Dartmoor, with the mist rolling in!!!

We started the business about seven years ago, attending local shows, craft fairs and charity events. We were constantly asked where the fudge could be purchased during the winter season. So we took the plunge, gave up a reasonable income, and opened up a little shop at Trago Mills. And the rest, as they say, is history. The business has gone from strength to strength, surviving a wedding, a fire, a flood, three children, a dog, a cat and a mother - in - law!!

We were lucky enough to find Jo, our reliable Production Manager, who allows us to take the odd weekend away, we even managed two weeks in Spain last year!!, and who bakes our lovely biscuits. She also keeps Clive under control, - something his wife has been trying to do for eight years!! Thank you Jo!

Sue practically runs the shop for us and makes sure we, nearly, always have enough fudge!

We all work as a team, an extended family and are very grateful to all who work so hard to keep us going.

A special word must go to Clive’s mum, who not only baby-sits on a regular basis but also keeps all the books, and shouts at Clive when he loses a receipt!! Thank you Mags, we really couldn’t do it without you!!
